During
the months of August and September 2017 Camillus Elks Lodge No. 2367 assisted
the VA in re-housing their 22nd homeless veteran with the National Welcome Home
Kit. Good member Bernie Bunce, along with the help of friend, delivered a
complete dining room set to a re-housed Veterans apartment. There
is a collection box at the lodge where items such as clothing, kitchen items
bedding etc. can be dropped off. They hosted a monthly Pizza Party for
approximately 60 residents and staff both months. Also both months approximately 20 patients
from the behavioral health unit and 20 from the spinal cord unit were treated
to a fantastic Italian dinner. They
supported St Joe’s homeless veterans program with three large bags of home and
kitchen furnishings. And again, a
mystery donor gave a cash
donation to the pizza fund.
