BPOE 2367 (Camillus NY) Camillus Vets
During the months of May and June 2017 Camillus Elks Lodge No. 2367 assisted the VA in re-housing their 18th homeless veteran with the National Welcome Home Kit. There is a collection box at the lodge where items such as clothing, kitchen items bedding etc. can be dropped off. They hosted nine wheelchair bound veterans to their monthly breakfast and gave each vet a lap robe. They hosted a monthly Pizza Party for approximately 60 residents and staff both months. Also both months approximately 20 patients from the behavioral health unit and 20 from the spinal cord unit were treated to a fantastic lasagna dinner with much credit going to Camillus Catering and Joe Sgambati .

BPOE 474 (Auburn NY) Flag Day Ceremony
On June 14th a Flag Day Ceremony was held at
Veterans Memorial Park in
Auburn by the officers and members of the Auburn Elks Lodge No.474. The key
speaker was the Honorable Michael Quill, Mayor of Auburn who gave a
Patriotic Address. The symbols of the flag folding were presented by Al
Lane from the Knights of Columbus Assembly 735 Color Corp. The Star
Spangled Banner and God Bless America were sung by Cherie and Olivia Avery,
respectively. Brian Schenck presented the History of our Flag, and Scott
Murphy the response. Retired U.S. Military Reserve, Boy Scouts of America
Troop # 43 participated at the event. Taps was played by James Vivenzio.
The weather was perfect that evening with full Sunlight and a gentle breeze.
There were approximately 75 people in attendance not including the officers.
