BPOE 474 (Auburn, NY) Veteran’s Support Day 2016_11

Auburn Elks Lodge No. 474 and DAV Chapter 103 held a Veteran’s support day at the  Auburn Elks Lodge.  The purpose of the day was to provide local Veterans with an understanding of DAV’s support for disabled Veteran.  The meeting started with a presentation from the DAV to sixteen local Veterans of what the DAV does in support of Veterans.  The initial discussion was to explain that the DAV supports all Veterans free of charge whether they are members of the DAV or not.  It was explained that DAV represents the interest of disabled Veterans, their families, their widowed spouses and their orphans before Congress, the White House, and the Judicial Branch as well as State and local governments with a key focus of providing an unending commitment to our Veterans.  The DAV motto is to fulfill our promises to the men and women who served.

On this day, it was not only Veterans helping Veterans but Auburn Elks lodge 474 helping Veterans.  Auburn Elks Lodge 474 provided a place for the local Veterans to meet the DAV district leader and the Lodge also provided a luncheon.

After the presentation and lunch, each Veteran that had issues or concerns was given the opportunity to meet with the district leadership to document them.  The DVA has a commitment to work with the Veterans on their specific issues and concerns.  Just prior to the end of the meeting, the DAV chapter 103 and the Elks Lodge 474 raffled off a reconditioned laptop to one of the attending Veterans.

At the end of the meeting, the district leader thanked the Lodge for their support and commitment to Veterans.   Auburn Elks Lodge is planning on having these meetings again in our continuing support of local Veterans.
